Welcome to The Lake Lodge At Grand Lake O' The Cherokees Blog: Bassmaster Classic Edition!

Bassmaster is here
B.A.S.S. Staff (Lake Staff) Rolled into town Monday

The town of Grove is buzzing with the anticipation of the Bassmaster Classic that starts tomorrow! The Bassmaster Classic is the most prestigious of all fishing tournaments. Considered to be the "Super Bowl" of bass fishing. We were honored to host 11 Bassmaster Classic contender while they were here practicing last Friday - Sunday. Those staying with us were, Bassmaster Classic Champion Hank Cherry, Angler of the year Scott Canterbury, Matt Arey, Will Davis, Jr, Tim Dube, Pat Schlapper, Bob Downey, Brock Mosley, Tyler Rivet, Lee Livesay and Easton Fothergill. Took pictures for the office picture board of all but Lee (sorry Lee, just never caught up with you) we want to wish them all a safe tournament and it would be really cool if one of these guests were to win that $300K!

Grand Lake, Oklahoma, Tournament Results, Lake Level, Area Info

I got to get out a little bit Saturday and the fishing is great right now. I think the scopers can catch them but I am not that...... and I caught them pretty good on tapering points with shallow running crankbaits and Jigs. The water looks good and the water temp is in the mid to upper 50"s and the level is 742.18.

I think the Classic could be won doing several different things. So if you want to get out on the lake tomorrow and watch scoping, you'll be able to do it. If you want to watch bank beaters, you'll be able to do it. If you do go out there, please give these guys space. You cant miss them in their wrapped boats. Let them showcase what a great fishery Grand Lake is!

Prediction: I was asked what I thought it was going to take to win, and I think someone will average 19 and change pounds per day, with the total being 58.12! That's pretty good on any lake!

Come down to Wolf Creek Boating Facility Friday, Saturday and Sunday and give the anglers a great sendoff! Launches are at 7:00am but I would be there by 6:15am to get a good viewing spot and hear Dave Mercer interview the anglers. And, if you come Saturday, I have been given the great honor and privilege of singing the National Anthem that morning. Come by and say hi!

I'll write more about the results, and what I hear or see (if i get out to spectate) next week!
