Well, its been a couple of weeks since the last blog post, I apologize! Frankly, its was just too cold for me to get out and there was still quite a bit of ice on the lake last week. Wolf Creek Park ramp didn't thaw out fully until last Thursday! It has been beautiful and sunny (see above) and warm the last few days. Dare I say spring could come early? I'm sure there will be a few cold snaps before spring officially arrives, but I am going to enjoy this while it lasts.
Grand Lake, Oklahoma, Tournament Results, Lake Level, Area Info
We had our first group of anglers of 2024 stay with us last weekend. They were teams that were fishing the Twisted Cat Outdoors fishing series. As you can gather from the name, they are a catfish tournament series. Congratulations to Lance Lutke, Tyson Lutke, & Dominic Pellegrino with 5 fish that weighed 91.33! They took home $4,560. Joe Lunsford, Vance Goff, & Aaron Jarrell had big a fish of 34.63! I will say this, I thought bass fishing rigs were tricked out.... these boats were 24' ish long had radar, 16" screens, covered cockpits if needed, heated if needed....heck some even had grills and did shore lunches! $100K rigs for sure!
We have anglers from the first bass fishing event of the year, a BFL Okie division event, staying this week. I'll post pictures and results from that event next week. Here is our first bass tournament guest of 2024 (below)
I did get on the water for a couple of hours this week. I did not catch any fish. Fishing has been really tough. Even the catfish guys said it was a lot tougher than they were expecting. The cold , frozen lake we had, caused a huge shad kill. The locals are all saying it was larger than they ever remember. The fish, all species, gorged themselves on the easy food. In my experience, it usually take a couple of weeks after a shad kill for the fish to really get back on a regular diet..... so in theory, it should start to pick up any day now. The BFL this weekend will tell us a lot! The lake level has still been hovering around 742.63, that is up slightly from the last report. The water temp when I was out last week was between 42 and 47 depending on where I was.
Next week we host the World Fishing Tour (WFT) This event is a really cool concept and a pretty decent chance at winning some cash! And possibly qualify for the Bassmaster Team Championship and maybe even the Bassmaster Classic! You should check it out here... fishwft.com and then stay with us when you fish it!

World Fishing Tour - February 17-24 (2 rooms left for Friday the 16th , 7 rooms left the 17th on)
Nothing going on February 24-25 (might have to have a Jackpot. Who's in?)
Big Bite Challenge, Ozark Mountain Team Trail and XFL - March 1,2-3 respectively (2 rooms left for that weekend)
Anglers In Action and Nichols - March 9 and 10 ( 6 rooms left for that weekend and 1 for part of the weekend)
Don't forget about about The Lake Lodge at Grand Lake O' the Cherokees for your non fishing needs too. It would be a great place while visiting the Cherokee Casino that is literally one minute away! We have 10 sleeping rooms. Each has two (2) double beds, a 42" smart TV, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, WIFI, lighted, covered, pull through boat parking, outdoor TV to watch the game while rigging tackle, BBQ grills, two (2) free bags of ice each day, picnic tables and a large fire pit for those cool nights! Plus two full hook up RV Pads!
