Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a great and safe New Years Eve celebration, whatever that may have been! Ours was a couple games of Mexican Train Dominos with mom! We aren't too wild anymore....Lets back up a bit and talk about Christmas! We had mom, our kids Brie, Brett and Nicole, the grandkids Emelia and Brooks over for Christmas. It was a great time in the "cozy" camper. At least they all had their own room and bathroom! We went to Silver Dollar City for a day and had a great Christmas service at church together. We even caught Cookie and Chippy on the security camera as they departed back to the North Pole after leaving the grandkids a note!
Grand Lake, Oklahoma, Tournament Results, Lake Level, Area Info
Had another Bassmaster Classic contender and Elite Series angler stay with us this past week while scouting Grand Lake in preparation for the 2024 Bassmaster Classic. Can you tell who it is from the security camera?
Got a chance to get out on the water a couple times since the last blog. Top picture was a fish caught Friday while practicing for the Podunker's Fishing League jackpot this past Saturday. The bottom picture was a beautiful picture from our starting spot on Derby Day. Fished with good friend Jeff Waters. Friday was cloudy and we caught 20 fish or so. Still no bigguns, most were in the 2lb range though. Saturday was high skies and much tougher for us. We had a small limit (10 pounds) finished mid pack. The winners had just over 20 pounds and it took 16 and change to get a check. Big Bass was 5.81. We are still catching ours on Crankbaits and Tubes in 6-8 feet of water,. Guys are starting to catch them on the A-Rig and jerkbaits too. It wont be long before they will really be on that bite. The lake level has been hovering around 742.00. Pool is 744.00 so its a couple of feet down, which is normal for this time of year. The water temp is still between 46 and 51 degrees depending on where you are. Remember to take my report with a grain of salt, as I have not really been targeting fish.... I have been putting in at different parts of the lake and just putting the trolling motor down. I'm just trying to learn each and every creek and pocket until I have covered the whole lake. We fished Duck Creek on Friday and Woodard on Saturday, for the most part.
